What's New

British Columbia has the highest child poverty rate in Canada, with one in five children considered statistically poor, says a report that calls for quick action to alleviate a worsening situation in the province.

The report by the child and youth advocacy group First Call said B.C.'s child poverty rate is 18.6 per cent compared to the national rate of 13.3 per cent. Manitoba's rate, the second-highest in the country, stands at 17.3 per cent.

This is a reality our families know all too well. You're donations help us provide safe affordable housing for low-income families in the downtown eastside. Every little bit helps. If you're able to become a monthly donor, even a small regular contribution allows us to plan ahead in meeting the needs of our tenants. Visit the Support Us page to learn more.

What We're Up To

After the devastating fire at Mavis McMullen Place in August 2015, our tenants were finally able to move back to a new and improved building in early 2017. Our tenants demonstrated incredible resilience and faith during an extraordinarily stressful time. A big thank you goes to our Building Managers Mandy, Mae and Cecilia in managing the huge task of restoring the building and assisting tenants in returning to their community. We are so glad to be home again!
